Nail art │Red, yellow & green Splatter. Nail design with OPI Washington collection.

Red, yellow & green Splatter Nail design with OPI Washington collection

Hello Sweeties!! Happy Friday!
It looks like we are going to have the first gloomy weekend in a very long time, so Fall is announcing itself  on time. It is not all bad because I'd like to do some deep house cleaning on Saturday (yay... not) and  it is something I much prefer doing when it is not sunny outside. On Sunday we'll probably have some family quiet brunch time and hope the weather will improve by then. What are your plans for the weekend? I'd love to hear what you are after and give me some ideas!

Now, as every Friday it's time for nail art! Today I'm showing you another nail design for the 40 Great Nail art Ideas Challenge, and the prompt this week is "red, yellow, green". Today's manicure is also a good one for short nails, I hope you like it!

Today's challenge prompt of colour is "red, yellow, green" and my personal technique is "Splatter". These nails were very trendy the past two years in the nailister world, but I can imagine many of you thinking what the... splatWHAT?

I used to use this painting technique when I was in kindergarten and it was fun and gave very interesting colourful results. It consists in using a drinking straw, put your paint in one end and blow into the other end with a certain intensity. That will make the colour to splat on the desired surface, which in this case is your nails! If you are thinking "oh, gosh, that must be messy!", then you are totally right. It is the messiest technique I've tried so far but the results can be very artsy too!

For this technique I definitely recommend to use one of the methods for protecting your cuticles and fingers to avoid haveng to clean up with acetone (see my reviews here and here), and to protect your table or where is that you work, because it is pretty unpredictable where the splatter of paint will land!! :O

For creating this manicure I started painting my nails with Essence White wild ways, which is a plain white. Then I protected my cuticles and fingers with Born Pretty Store Liquid tape. Using a plastique straw I blew some splats of paint using Red, Yellow and Green. My chosen colours from the OPI washington collection* were OPI We the Female for the red, OPI Never a Dulles Moment for the yellow and OPI Suzi the First Lady of nails for the green. I think these colours are perfect together and give the manicure a ver Fall like vibe!

In the end, I got practically no cleanup to do on my fingers, and I've laid a couple of paper towels over my desk, so there weren't any damages. I really liked this technique, because each nail looks so unique! I also think this is a great design for shorter nails, as you would need to work much harder and longer to do the same thing on long nails.

So, here you are my  red, yellow, green splatter manicure! What do you think of it? I find them quite artsy!

Don't forget to pay a visit to my challenge pals listed here below, and have a wonderful weekend!!

Love,
Nati
