Good evening my lovelies! How are you today? As you might have heard the best seller book trilogy "50 Shades of Grey" has been adapted for the big screen and the movie will released in Switzerland the 11th or 12th February (depending where you live). I was never really interested enough in it to be informed about the plot or anything, but when OPI released The dedicated collection last month I was thrilled to received three of the shades! I couldn't help myself and did some nail art with it.
These are the three bottles I got: (from left to right) Cement the deal, Embrace the Grey and Shine for me.
Here is what I came up with. First a simple stamping over OPI Cement the Deal using Essence stamping polish in matte black and MoYou Bridal plate #07
Here below is how OPI Cement the deal looks by itself, a lovely medium grey creme that was opaque and even in two coats, pictures shows two coats with topcoat.
My second manicure is a ruffian or "inversed French", for which I used OPI Shine for me as a base, and once it dried, with the help of French tip guides, I applied two coats of OPI Embrace the grey. I topped it with a coat of Essence gel topcoat and added some little hearts using OPI Unfrost my heart and a dotting tool.
Below you can see a picture of OPI Shine for me by itself, a very pretty silver microglitter, with sparse blue glitter, that gives the impression of a foil nail polish seen from afar. I used two coats without topcoat, and I'm sorry my cleaning was not great, but I was in a hurry and glitter polish is always such a pain to get rid of my cuticles!!
I understand 50 Shades of Grey has a controversial plot, but I don't have a formed opinion about it since I'm not really interested in this kind of stories and they don't attire my attention. So I do not think I'd go to see the movie. However I find the OPI collection quite interesting, and very appealing one for "monochrome" nail art!
What do you think of this collection and the manicures I've created with it? Are you going to see this movie (or have you already seen it) ? Let me know your thoughts/opinions!
Love,
Nati

ReplyDeleteAll of the looks are really nice. I like gray toned polishes!
ReplyDeleteHowever I'm not a fan of 50shades. Basically a young student girl and a rich man get a relationship with "S&M" sex in it. However, the part I don't like is that people think the whole thing is "edgy and different because the sex is 'rough'", the problem is that the author didn't make any research what S&M actually is (basically there is a dominant and non-dominant part, however it's the non-dominant who has the final control, with code words to stop the action. Like a regular "no" in a traditional sexual relationship). However in the book the dominant man ignores the code words, so basically he rapes her several times. But somehow people think that is "okay" because they don't use traditional code words. If it would have been traditional sex and she would have said no there wouldn't been any doubts about the rape issue. Basically I think that the book(s) are romanticizing rape and abuse, clothing a rape into a "cool and edgy S&M sex". NOT COOL!
I don't know if the movie will follow the book or not. However I will not see it and support it with money.
Thank for your comment Gelic! Oh boy, I had a very rough idea of what the story was about, I did not know all the detail! anyway I was not going to see the movie just because it does not appeal to me.

thank you Karlien!
DeleteLOVE the ruffian! And the stamping. Awesome job on both! I adore the cremes in this collection. No, I will not be seeing the movie, nor do I have any interest in the books but I will say curiosity got the better of me and I read an article regarding the two stars-- apparently they can't stand either each other or the movie, to which I say, Did you not have ANY clue what you were signing up for?! lol. Whatevs! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Liesl. Oh boy, can you believe a thing like that? I mean, I get sometimes you don't like where you work or your colleagues, but have to keep on because you can't live without a job, it is, however, difficult to imagine this can also happen to movie stars!! so weird!
Deleteso pretty! And I love that you took your photos with the lace mask - perfect!
ReplyDeleteI honestly missed all your nail art posts, Natalia...and once again, I am so glad that you're back. xx
