Personal post: my baby's 1st b-day
Feb 28, 2013
Hello my dears! How are you doing today? I'm feeling like crap again, because of the flew once more. I can't remember when it was that I felt completely healthy, pfff. My little guy is also ill, but he hasn't got a temperature, so luckily he might be spared this time. I can't begin to tell how I wish this winter was OVER!
Well, as I promised, I'm posting today some pictures of my baby's first birthday party. He's
got the Mickey Mouse cake, which took me hours to make! But I got
many compliments, so it was worthy in the end (I've blurred my son's
name on the cake). Home made muffins, cupcakes and (for
some reason I forgot to photograph) salty finger food. We were 16 adults, 8 children and 2
soon-to-be-born! That explains the amount of food :D

Hello my dear readers! How are you doing?
This week I got to the 18th battle of this challenge, only 2 more to go and it'll be finished. Today we're again on an inspiration battle, Tutorial vs. celebrity manicure. There was no doubt about my choice, I had to do a glitter gradient based on the tutorial by Lucy from Lucystash. To see the video of the tutorial click here.

EOTD: Spring look using Catrice Neo Geisha
Feb 25, 2013
Hello my dears! how are you doing? I hope you had a fantastic weekend!
I sure did! The birthday party for my baby was perfect! just as I imagined it would be. We all had a lot of fun, specially him!
Today I have a new topic to my blog and is EOTD (eye of the day). As you may know by now, I like makeup in general (not only nail polish) and thought it would be nice to share with you also how I use my makeup and not just the swatches. I had much fun preparing my first EOTD!
But to this there's a small warning note:
NOTD: Isadora Bella Vita
Feb 23, 2013
Hello my dears! Happy Saturday to all! Tomorrow we'll be celebrating our child's first birthday and we're thrilled about it! We'll do an afternoon party at home with family and friends so I'll spent most of my Saturday preparing loads of food, some decoration and of course a birthday cake! If it ever comes out somewhere near decent looking I may post a picture of the cake.
But enough of me babbling, Today I have a super cool shade I have received in a swap with the lovely blogger Jezzica, our Little Miss Nail Polish. This is Isadora Bella vita, from the spring 2013 collection. It's a beatiful lavender creme with a slightest secret shimmer.

NO-BUY break until Easter and some other Lent resolutions
Feb 13, 2013
Hello my dears! Today there's no manis or pictures, just some rumbling. So, you're warned!
My rumbling subject is very simple, as today's the first day of Lent, I wanted to do some sacrifice. As I do not smoke or drink, those weren't real sacrifices to me, and I thought something that would really cost me a lot of effort had to be nail polish related: This means I'm not going to buy any nail polish for 44 days.
Giving it a second thought to the decision, I came to the conclusion that it was hard, but not too hard. Because, although that would demand a lot of discipline to contain myself when going out "shopping", and it would also mean missing all the main Spring releases, and that may have a certain impact on the blog too, in the end, I have so many UNTRIED nail polish, that the fact of no buying new ones would not REALLY affect me. So I decided to go one step further and to impose myself a non buying ANYTHING for me. That goes from cosmetic and makeup to clothes, including other stuff like music, or cinema, theater (well we already have entries for a play on March 13th, but it is part of a suscription to our local Theatre), it also includes not going to the hair stylist, or even buying a chocolate bar, or anything else you could think of that involves spending money on a pleasant thing. That also means I will not be doing any swaps until Easter (Sorry!).

I'm oficially in a NO-BUY BREAK FROM TODAY UNTIL EASTER!
I'm not completely nuts or ridiculous. This is supposed to have some great output in my life. Firstly, it will help me save some money ;) secondly, it will make me save some time too! thirdly, it is good to recover some kind of boundaries, because lately I've been somehow limit-less shopping. I expect to regain some self-control, and spend otherwise my time.
As always, I'll be very pleased to read your comments!

Nail Art for Carnival: Mardi Gras in New Orleans
Feb 12, 2013
Hello my dears! How are you doing!! Happy Mardi Gras to everyone!!
Today is (officially) the last day of the Carnival period. It's supposed to be the day celebrations and party hit their highest point. As you may notice the past few days I've chosen to represent in my nails some icons of this celebrations and we already know how famous are Venetian masks and colorful costumes in Rio de Janeiro. Today I have a very bright mani for you inspired by Mardi Gras in New Orleans, another well known carnival celebration.
Nail Art for Carnival: Colorful Rio
Feb 11, 2013
Today I wanted to share with you another nail art Carnival-inspired. I've showed you recently a mani trying to reproduce a Venetian mask, and thought it looked neat, it wasn't quite the spirit of Carnival I grew up with. Carnival in Latin America is much brighter, more colorful, more joyful and of course hotter. So I thought the right way to express that was through the famous Carnival of Rio de Janeiro costumes, and I've even found an image without nudity!! (lol).
Nail Look for Carnival: Gold & Black masks in Venice
Feb 9, 2013
Hello my dears! Happy Saturday! We are already oficially in Carnival period since yesterday. To Celebrate that I have for you a manicure inspired by the Carnival of Venice. I can hardly think a more elegant and chic way to celebrate Carnival, this is a unique celebration in the world I guess.
For this manicure I used
The Battle Challenge: #15 inspired by Object vs. Fabric
Feb 6, 2013
Hello Lovelies! How are you? I'm impatient for the Friday to arrive, because then I'll know who wins the giveaway! If you haven't entered yet, hurry up! you still have time until tomorrow midnight. You can enter by clicking here.
Today is the 15th battle of this challenge, and it's again an inspiration battle: Object vs. fabric. I haven't done any nail art for today, sorry. Nonetheless, I do have a great polish to share with you. When I was thinking what to choose as object of inspiration I came up with a great idea: my pearl necklace! I could not think of a more timeless, elegant and feminine object. It was also the perfect excuse to finally wear my recently acquired Chanel Pearl drop (I had this on sale 50% off! wiii!). I used three thin coats, because it is a sheer polish, and very likely to show brush strokes, and I was so happy with the look that I decided to leave it like this and not doing any nail art.

Nail Look for Valentine's day: Je t'aime
Feb 2, 2013
Hello my dear readers! How is your weekend going? Hope you're enjoying it!
What I'd like to share with you today is another idea for Valentine's Day nails. And Of course, this is about RED NAILS! I don't know what about your mr./hubby/boyfriend/etc. but mine, just loves red nails. When I asked him why he always chooses red for my nails his answer was "because red is the colour of love" (?!).
Catrice Neo Geisha: Nail polish swatches review & comparisons

First Spring haul: Zoya Lovely
From the left: Julie, Gie Gie, Piaf, Jacqueline, Neely, Blu |
Look what was on my mail box today!
I got the whole Zoya Lovely collection from nailetc.com for USD 49.00 (including shipping fees) . It took 15 days to arrive, but I chose the cheapest shipping method, so I think is acceptably fast.
Every year I get a spring collection, (well except 2012 when I was on a polish-break). And I'm really happy with this one. It's my favourite collection of all the previews for Spring that I've been seeing so far. I know, you're thinking about the Color Club Halo Hues for Spring, but I'm not that much a holo girl. While I'd like to get one or two shades, I wouldn't buy a whole holo collection.

At first sight, it looks like all the "Lovely" colours are unique in my collection, there's only one I might have a dupe of, it's Zoya Blu. I have yet to try on the nail but on the bottle it looks exactly the same than Essie Borrowed and blue. So if you own the Essie shade you might want to give it a second thought before getting Zoya Blu. For the rest of the shades, none of my colours is even near to them.
I can't wait to swatch them, and share them with you. But I want to wait for a sunny day to have good pictures. So stay tuned!
What do you think about Zoya Lovely? Is this a collection that appeals to you for Spring? Have you already got any of the shades?
