Hello my "lovely" readers & friends! Today I'm doubly-excited, because 1) It's FRIDAY! wiiii! and 2) I have for you the swatches of the Zoya Lovely Collection!!
We've had an awful week here, weather wise, rain, snow, wind, and more snow. I had been hoping so hard for a ray of sunshine to photograph these beauties, and yesterday I had a little bit of it! (like 10 minutes, lol!) So it went like this: 30 seconds of sun among the clouds-5 minutes of rain- sun-snow-wind-sun-rain, and so on. I would paint my nails as quick as possible, grab the camera, and wait patiently next to the window, and snap the shot as soon as a shy ray would come out (I felt a little bit like a sniper!). As the sun was out, I frenetically removed one colour and painted the other not to miss the light!! The bad thing was: no time for base coat or topcoat, not even for waiting the polish to dry, so you might see some "accidents", very little time for clean-up, so excuse my "shimmery cuticles" lol. The good thing was, I did gain some time! I've never swatch so fast before, it took me like 20 minutes to swatch all 6 polishes! :D
Ok, enough of me babbling, it's time for the swatches!(remember you can enlarge all pictures by clicking on them!)
First is Zoya Julie:

This is a gorgeous lavender with shimmer. The formula was perfect, not too thin or too thick, it needed two coats to look this opaque. I do not own any similar shade, this colour is quite balanced and mine lean too blue or too red.
Next is Gie Gie :

This is a gorgeous shade of light pink with same kind of shimmer Julie has (I guess Zoya played same shimmer/different base colour in this collection). The formula was very similar to the formula on Julie, but I found it a little thicker. It took two coats to get it opaque. Again, this is unique in my collection.
Following shade is Piaf:

I was expecting to like this one more than I did. This shade of yellow is totally unique in my collection (I do not own many yellow polishes, but I can't remember seeing a similar shade anywhere and I read a LOT of blogs!). Anyway, as much as I find it very interesting, it looks pretty odd next to my skin tone. I'm not sure I'll keep this one. Same shimmer than the previous two shades. Nice formula and easy application, more on the thick side but nothing unmanageable.
Now is the turn of the crèmes:
Zoya Blu:
Zoya Blu |
Zoya Blu |
This is the palest shade of baby blue. So delicate and pretty. The formula was a little troublesome. I did rush it a little, though. It's a little too thick to my taste and a bit streaky. But it evens out nicely in three thin coats. This one is not unique in my collection. In fact I own a dead on dupe!! It's Essie Borrowed & blue. I shall do a comparison for you soon.
The following crème is Jacqueline:

can you see the subtle shimmer? |
This was a total surprise for me. I really thought this shade would never work out with my skin tone. But once on the nail I LOVE it. I do not think that gives me the "lobster hands" do you? I really am in love with this shade, and I'm not a nude shades lover! What's wrong with me! lol! The formula on this one was not the best. As Zoya Blu, it was a little thick and streaky. But it looked perfect with three thin coats. Plus, this is definitely unique in my collection!
Last, but not least Zoya Neely:
Zoya Neely |
Zoya Neely |
Here you are a GORGEOUS shade of green, with the slightest hint of blue (in my pictures it definitely looks more blue than it irl). Neely is absolutely unique in my collection! Not even one close relative what so ever! It was also a DREAM to apply. The formula is exactly as I expect a cream should apply, not too thick or too thin. I did rush the application, because sunlight was leaving, It would look its best with three thin coats, but I did two.
Overall:
I was surprise with this collection because I was sure I was going to like the shimmers most. Well, let me tell you, my two absolutely favourite shades are Jacqueline and Neely. Surprised?

I have a negative point to mention and it's
about BRUSHES. They're thinner than I'd like, specially for the pastel crèmes, which are known for being
streaky. Am I too used to wide brushes? What do you think of Zoya's brushes?
Please, don't be shy and let me know your opinion! Do you have any favourites? Have you pick any of these already?
I wish you a great weekend!
Love,

Hi Nati, I love the Zoya spring Collection!!! The creams are my favorites as well and I think they all look beautiful on you!!! From the shimmers it is only Julie that speaks to me, the others are, well, just not to my liking. I like the Zoya brushes - I have small nails and the Catrice brush for example is wider than my pinkie nail!!!! Thank you for your excellent light- speed review, I find it really helpful xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks my dear Christine! Of course I'm not saying the brushes are bad, just that I prefer wider ones. Catrice's brushes aren't my favourite either, I've been loving Essie's brushes lately!
Deleteme gusta mucho como te quedo el rosa y el purpura, Dan un toque muy sutil
ReplyDeleteEs cierto Andrea, a mi también me parecen bonitos!
DeleteHmmm these are not my colors. I would maybe wear the yellow, but it still doesn't really blow me away.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! Of course, if you aren't into pastels, you better skip this collection!
Deletexx
Hi Natalia!
ReplyDeleteHope your're doing fine.
I love these colours, almost everyone, except the yellow and creamy one.
Have a great weekend.
Hi Ann-Sofie! I'm doing great, and you? Happy you like them!
DeleteHave a nice weekend you too!
Ciao cara!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post you've done here!! And six polishes on 20 minutes?!?! Must be world record!!! LOL! :D
My favourites are (surprise, surprise!!! ;)) Julie, Blu and Neely ;)
I shouldn't really like Zoya's brushes because I think they are too thin, but they are so firm and of such high quality that I actually like them!! I hope they haven't lowered the quality on the brushes with this new collection...?
Baci!
xx
Ciao bella, never thought you've fancied Julie! I thought you didn't like lilac :S !!
DeleteI did that really fast, but as a consequence my swatches are... well, let's say less than perfect ;D
I do not think Zoya has lowered the quality of the brushes, just that pastel creams are more difficult for me to apply with a thin brush. Many other bloggers have swatch the collection and found the cream streaky, but I blame the brush!!
stammi bene! xxx
Wow! I'm jealous of you for having all these pretties! ;) They look very feminine and spring like and I think they go well with your skin.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't have any zoya polish in my stash but I must change that I feel but I haven't found a great place to buy them yet other than ebay. So I can't say anything about zoya's brush size but generally I like wider brushes way more because my nails are wide. Hate those thin brushes where I'm forced to dip to get more polish multiple times for each nail, it gets streakier and take a lot of time. Especially now days when my nails has gotten so long. If I see the same color in two brands with about the same price I would definately go for the one with a wider brush.
About the collection, I think I like all of them, maybe I like the pink less, just becuase it seems so common but the rest of them, and jacqueline looks great! Hope you'll have a nice weekend! :D
Hi Gelic! Thanks for your comment, I always appreciate your insight! If you prefer wide brushes, so you may not like Zoya's. But it's just a qustion of trying out, you never know.
DeleteI ope you enjoyed your weekend too! xxx
