Well, you know that my unbreakable will is not so unbreakable when it comes up to Dior makeup limited editions, so I fell for Cosmopolite colection (taking profit of the current 3x2 in makeup they're currently having at Marionnaud). So let me introduce you to the new Fluid Shadow by Dior in the shade 275 Cosmic.
Fluid shadows by Dior can be worn as shadows or thick eyeliner for the upper lid. They come in a tube similar to a lipglos and have a short brush with a steam applicator. The effect is smooth reflecting metallic finish, totally in your face kind of look. Well, lets face it, you are going to wear it the bold way or it is never goin to happen. The color I'm showing you today is a deep violet with metallic finish and iridiscency. I apologize the weather was so dull the pictures just don't do justice to this gorgeous shade.
This shadow is a weird duck. Many things were said about this new liquid formula for the eyeshadows, and how difficult they are to be worked, how awful is to try blending them or shading the edges, etc. These were conceived to be worn bold! Really?
I have been playing with them a couple of days (at the counters, lol) before I made up my mind and decided they could be perfectly worned by me (never a gal been further from party or sophisticated looks). So this is the look I rocked for a family reunion for lunch in a fancy restaurant last Sunday (please don't look at my brows, I've been trying to grow them back for a long and gave up plucking them! blogpost on the subject soon)
A list of what I'm wearing in the face:
- Milani eyeshadow primer
- Dior addict Fluid shadow in 275 Cosmic
- Dior addict Fluid shadow in 275 Cosmic
- Clarins The essentials palette
- NYX eyebrow cake powder
- Diorshow 090 Buildable professional volume Lash extension effect
Face:
- Chanel Joues contraste 88 Vivacité
A little wording on application may be needed: I applied the shadow to the hole mobile lid near to the lashes directly with the shadow applicator. and waited for it to set. I was careful to pick the smallest amount of product that was possible so that it wouldn't drag. Next I put a small amount of shadow in the back of my hand and allow for it to semi-set. a point when it is not too liquid nor completely dry. Then with a fluffy brush I tried to blend the upper edge of the color on my lids into the crease. That didn't work perfectly. So I decided to add some powder eyeshadow (from the Clarins palette "The essentials") a dark color in the crease and outer corner. I finally added a lighter shade in the inner corner too.
I did this look in a rush and it was not planned at all, yet I quite like the outcome. I would do a more neat version if I had done this on purpose for the blog, but life does not allow me certain luxuries lately and Time for a neat makeup look has certainly become a luxury for me! I also like the color harmony the blush and lipbalm bring in. How do you like it?
Don't be shy and leave me your thoughts!
Love,
Nati
Oh you made ist work!! I need to try your tips too, I hate this formula never could get it working nicely.
ReplyDeleteThe colour looks absolutely stunning ! It's a shame that the formula is a bit hard to work with.

ReplyDeleteYou look great in this eyeshadow!
ReplyDeleteVery nice color, looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shade, I really love how you've turned the look into a very classy and elegant smokey eye without it being 'too much', very pretty! :) xx
ReplyDeleteI read about this on another blog and the blogger did mention it's tricky to apply and one have to be careful about it. The shade is seriously gorgeous but I need something that doesn't take that much work because I'm already bad with eyeshadow just as it is, with anything that needs me to be careful will be disastrous. LOL!
