Hello, sweeties! How are you doing?
Today I want to share with you a little personal story of how I discovered Erno Laszlo Dead Sea Mud* cleansing bar, and how eventually it ended up helping my skin in an unexpected way.

The bitch

I can't begin to tell you how annoying acne is. If you suffer from it, I don't need to explain any further. A few months ago my skin went bonkers again and I got acne again but not on my face. My shoulders and my back were covered with acne and I didn't know exactly what to do. Luckily for me, that wasn't my only symptom. My hormonal cycle was disrupted and irregular, I had unusual bleeding and tummy cramps, my melasma was getting worse, and my headaches too. I, eventually, went to see my doctor and my gynaecologist and they concluded I had endometriosis. I was given a three months treatment with medicine. After 4 weeks taking the medicine, I wasn't noticing any improvements, especially my acne seemed to be getting worse.

Nothing surprising as the contraindications of the medicine were acne, unusual bleedings, tummy cramps, skin hyperpigmentation, headaches and many more. Great.

I had enough of my body acne and I thought I had to do something about it. Then I remember I had this black soap.

Back in 2015 I subscribed to Lookfantastic beauty box and received a sample of Erno Laszlo New York Sea Mud Deep cleansing bar, I was a little sceptical about it and I didn't open it in a long time. It is a Deep cleansing bar, for combination to oily skin. Which I had not, since my skin is normal to dry. I thought it wasn't for me and moved on. Until one day that I got a bad pimple and thought that was the deepest cleanser in the house, and used it. And I was wowed. My pimple went away super quickly without leaving traces and my skin wasn't dehydrated. From that day on I used the little sample soap for every isolated pimple I had. Eventually, I run out of the sample and I got the full size soap (ouch, it hurts in my wallet). And I remembered I had it and started to use it.

My experience

The soap I have weights 150g (which is huge) the packaging feels very luxurious and it has a very convenient box in sturdy plastic to keep it, which I find practical and hygienic. The soap has a very subtle scent that reminds me a little of baby powder, but it is not persistent at all. I don't feel it on my skin after I rinse it.

As a dry skin gal with the occasional hormonal pimple when I have my menstruation, this soap was great but it was a pure luxury, seen the price. It didn't dried out my skin which was a premiere for me using deep cleansing products, and it was extremely efficient with the isolated pimples on my face.

Lately, I've been using it on my body. That's quite a luxury I must say because this soap isn't cheap. But the good news is I only need very little to treat all the affected areas and the soap lasts for ages. Basically, I make the soap foam on my hands, it doesn't lather a lot and, of course, the foam is grey. I then apply it with my hads and massage for a minute or so on my shoulders and my back where my acne is and finally rinse.

I have been doing this under the shower for the past four weeks. My skin is not dried, and I don't feel it loses its balance but my acne has almost disappeared. I don't see scars, I dont see any hyperpigmentation. It is either is magic, or this thing really works. I couldn't wait to share this with you, because I am in LOVE with this soap right now. But of course, I wanted to share my background story so that you know the special circumstances of my acne, as I believe that what works for me might not work for everybody.

I got my bar at Lookfantastic, where you can find different options for the Erno Laszlo Sea Mud  Deep Cleansing bar:
- The 100g Soap bar retails for £30 (which is about 40 USD).
The Detoxifying cleansing set including a 60ml  cleansing oil and a 50g soap bar for £28 (which is about 36 USD and it's on my whishlist once I've finished this bar)

What about you? do you suffer from acne? have you found your holy grail acne treatment? what works for you without disrupting your skin's balance? Would you try the Erno Laszlo soap? Let me know in the comments!!

Love,
Nati
