Hello my dears! How was your weekend? here we have not had a great weather lately, seriously, Spring where are you? It looks a lot more like Fall, is grey, rainy, and chilly. Well, I guess my desire for spring shows in my nails today! What I'd like to share with you today is a Spring-y gradient I did with the addition of a cute 3D nail decoration sent to me by KKCenterHK.
For this mani I used the Mavala polish in 154 Aquamarine, which is a gorgeous mint green with the slightest hint of shimmer à la Chanel. I bought this shade in first placed because it is supposed to be a dupe for the now mythical Chanel Jade, which is my biggest impossible lemming. Three words on the Aquamarine formula: What the hell!!?? It is thin and gloopy, at the same time. Don't you think it's possible, hein? Well, I didn't. But this polish is here to prove me wrong.
I ended up doing three coats of Aquamarine, which took all the patience I could have. But the colour is so lovely! It is worth the hassle.

I then sponged on a gradient using Aquamarine and Chanel Mimosa, a beautiful shimmery yellow, this one with a perfect formulation, but then you don't need that just for sponging, do you?. I sponged twice on each nail, and there were still some bold spots, but I wanted to keep it thin and light, so didn't add any more coats.
To top it all I added a coat of Seche vite and glued a butterfly shaped decoration on each ring finger nail. The butterfly is made on some kind of plastic or resin, and it is very sturdy. I ike that the edges of the decoration are rounded, and not sharp. I strongly recommend using nail glue to hold it, because of the size regular topcoat will not suffice.
The butterflies (BLUESEA-FB02B) are sold in two pieces packages and retail for 4.00 USD
They seem kind of pricey, but the good news is these are reusable. You have to be very gentle when removing your polish not to damage the butterfly design. I did my nails on Wednesday and took them off yesterday, so they lasted on my nails through normal life, shower, sleeping for three days without problems. Hair washing was a bit challenging though :)
I really love how this mani came out! So that explains the stupidly exagerated amount of pictures! I like this kind of decorations, maybe not for everyday but for a special occasion I think they're perfect! What do you think about this mani? Would you rock this 3D decorations on your nails?

oh how pretty, I love 3D nail art but I doubt this butterfly would last the day but yes like you said a special occasion. Really like this mani. have to try it when I'm changing my current nail design :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, I'm glad you liked it. I thought like you, that it wouldn't last. But with nail glue it held so well, I had difficulty to take it off after three days! And I do a lot of washing because I have a 1year old baby to take care off.
DeleteIt's sooo pretty Natalia! I love the colours and the butterfly is so sweet. :-) Well done. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann-Sofie! :D
Deletewow, this looks so amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks shine eye!
DeleteBeautiful! The butterfly is really sweet! :-) I think it would "fly away" from my nails after 10 minutes... :-)
ReplyDeletehaha Tatjana you make me laugh! Sure, it could "fly away" all depends on what you're doing. On me it lasted three days intact, and I do a normal mom-housewife-student life. Though I did some minor cleaning and major washing and it didn't came off. But if you do gardening for instance... well, I don't think is suitable for that :P
DeleteI work in a supermarket, always in contact with money, coins, boxes ecc... I assure you that also rhinestones "fly away" after 4 hours of that kind of work.. :-) Maybe I could do this kind of manicure on my free days :-)
DeleteWow... this is just amazing :) I love the colors youve used in the ombre design and that butterfly is just so beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteI really love this a lot :)
Oh I am a follower through Bloglovin :) I thought I was a follower through GFC already but I could not find me there and it did not let me follow for some reason :/ Oh well :) I will try it again sometime :)
Im a follower though :D
hugs
xx
Thank you for following! I'm glad you like the nails.
DeleteDon't worry about GFC, sometimes the whole thing flips out and nothing works! it has happened to me once.
xx
Ciao cara Natalia! Che bellissima manicure!! Mi piace moltissimo!!
ReplyDeleteThe gradient is perfetto e la farfalle e fantastica! You have chosen the most perfect colors to match the butterfly!
You might not have spring weather but you do have spring on your nails QT! Baci! xx
Ciao Jezzica, I'm so glad you like it! your comment is really flattering. Thank you sweetie! bacioni xxx
DeleteLove the 3d deco but it wouldn't last over a couple of hours I bet .... It is still cute regardless :)
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky! thanks for reading. This one lasted very well. I took care to place them near the cuticle, because is mor practical than having them on the tips. I used nail glue and they held for three days normal life (could have been more but I took them off because I had awful tip wear and "needed" to change).
DeleteSalut Nati, there is just one word: PERFECT!!!! I especially love the gradient, this technique just make it look perfect. As for the 3D applications - I love to see them on others but cannot handle them for myself. I permanently get stuck or tear it off - what a pitty, especially when seeing it on you - viele Küsschen
ReplyDeleteWow Natalia, these are so beautiful! I really love that you paired the butterfly with a gradient, and a perfect gradient too! I agree about them maybe being best for special occasions!
ReplyDeleteYour gradient is sooooo adorable! Love the colours you chose and how neat you did it - the butterfly is just pure awesomeness! A piece of cutenesse overload indeed! :D
ReplyDeleteQue lindo, chic
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute gradient and the butterfly makes it even cuter!
