Hello, my lovelies! Happy weekend!
April showers are not dissapointing and the month is coming to an end with rainy weather around here, which inspired the manicure I'm showing you today! This is a blue "Pond" manicure I did for the"Nail Stamping Sisterhood" challenge. I hope you like it!
I'm not sure who was the first person to create a "Pond mani", but it basically consists in creating the illusion of depth in quiet water as a pond on the nails. The best way to achieve this 3D effect of depth is using a "jelly nail polish", that is a very translucent polish, which though it is not clear, it lets see through. The pond mani is achieved by layering one layer of translucent polish and one layer of white design, so on so forth.
This time I did something a little different that I saw in reddit, I've looked for it to give proper credit link, but couldn't find it! was it removed? Well, if you know the original work, please let me know the link so I can give proper credit. This idea is not mine ;)
1) I painted one coat of deep blue OPI polish on all my nails. Once it was dry I did two rows of white dots near my cuticles using a dotting tool and white polish.
2) Once the dots were dry, I painted a coat of translucent ("jelly") blue polish, so that the first two rows of white dots, looked blue.
3) I then painted two/three rows of white dots below the previous rows. Let it dry and cover the nail with "jelly" blue polish.
4) Repeated step 3 until the whole nail is covered with dots. The final look should be a gradient effect, where the dots appear darker toward the cuticle, and lighter toward the tip.
5) Finally, I sealed the design with clear topcoat!
