Hello my dears!! How are you doing today? How was your weekend?
Today's post is about M.A.K.E.U.P!!!! More precisely about a very useful palette I got last year: NYX butt "naked" eyes. Well, I've been wanting to show you this palette for months now, but I had always more "relevant" things to write about, and kept postponing it.
These is a neutral palette loaded with matte shade that was realeased in 2011, if I'm not mistaken. This was a more affordable alternative to the very popular Urban Decay Naked palette. I cannot write a comparison with the UD Naked palette because I do not own it. Sorry guys! I got this palette from for something like 20 USD during the NYX sale.
The two picture above show the carton box that contains the palette. As usual you can see in the back of the box a glimpse of what is inside. Which I find very practical, specially for a drugstore brand! The palette contains 15 eyeshadows, 4 blushes, 2 highlighters and a bronzer.
The packaging is the standard black plastic case, typical of the brand, which in my opinion is easier to clean than cardboard boxes, which end up tinted in all kind of colours looking "dirty".
So this is how the eyeshadows look like. Remember you can click on each picture to see an enlarged image.
From left: shimmery dark aubergine, matte dark taupe, matte black, shimmery grey-ish taupe, matte "particulière"taupe |
from the left: matte grey-ish taupe, matte warm-beige, gorgeous shimmery mauve, surprising duochrome rose, pearly light beige |
From the left: shimmery white, matte vanilla, matte light pink, slightly pearly warm caramel-beige, matte off-white (ivory like) |
The blushes are stunners! Just look at that, there is even a matte shade (third one from the left) nicely pigmented but not too much. Matte shades on the cheeks is nice while is subtle, if it's too pigmented it looks chalky! All the blushes blend like a dream. I tell you NYX is really surprising me with the powder blushes lately.
And last but not least the bronzer/highlighters. I find the bronzer a little orangey for my complexion, so I do not use it. But I like both the cool and the warm shades of highlighters!
Overall, I'm really happy with this palette. I like that NYX has improve the pigmentation of their eyeshades, even the matte ones. There is not one single disappointment in this box quality wise. Colour wise, I would have included a more cooler shade of bronzer, but that's just me :)
If you are into makeup, a neutral palette is a musthave in my opinion! And I find this one to be a very good option if you don't have a huge budget. Everything in one place, endless possibilities, so you can make up yourself and others too.
Do you own any neutral makeup palette? Which brand is your favourite for this kind of product?
Let me know your thoughts!
Love,
Nati
Wow! Great swatch of this product. I have only tried an eye brow pencil so far by NYX and this box looks great. I'm really in to earthy colors too so it would fit me perfect. I only wish that I could buy everything in different boxes, eyeshadow in one, high lights in one, blush/bronzers etc.
ReplyDeleteHi Gelic! I'm glad you liked my review. I know what you think about this all-in-one sets, not very fond of them right? I like this palette because it has not lippies, which I find kind of useless in a palette.
DeleteHallo Nati, great post, I love your summary and introduction to all its contents!!! This would be a palette I would see buying myself (wow you really convinced me) as it holds all those wonderful basics that make a great foundation to build a make-up wardrobe. I hope Nyx is releasing something similar soon, I am sure, I would buy it - thank you for showing us!!! Bisous (and of course I read your Blog, unfortunately I did not comment on every post - please apologize)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I'm so happy you still read my nonsense! Thank you!!!!!!!! And, if you're really interested in this palette, this is not a limited edition, but a regular NYX product so is available everywhere NYX is sold. I saw it at Manor, but it retailed CHF 49.90 which is TOO MUCH! Cherry culture.com has it for USD 20 + shipping fees. There's where I bought mine and I have no complaints!
Deletebisous! xxx
q envidia de la buena me encanta todo lo nude para los ojos.esta bonito tu kit.
ReplyDeletegracias Andrea, me alegra que te guste.
DeleteNice shades! I've got the UD Naked palette, but I have to admit, I don't use it regularly. The colors are gorgeous, but all the shimmery colors have fallout, so my whole face glitters after using them...
ReplyDeleteHi Aglaya, thanks for reading! I know how annoying fallout can be! specially for shimmery eyeshadows. You could try doing your eyes makeup before doing your face makeup, so you can wipe the shimmer from your cheeks.
DeleteCiao Nati! What a lot of beauties!! :D I love the name to! Very funny! Hihi! Baci! xx
ReplyDeleteCiao cara! the name is funny indeed!
DeleteOohoo those swatches look very promising! And that name? Priceless, hehe.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, the palette is great for everyday looks, the matte black is perfect. But the best part is the name XD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteTried this for the first time today. I bought from Sephora K.L. for USD20. Great price for such a huge box of 35gms of shadows and blushes. Tried the white, taupe aubergine colors today. Cant see any shimmers on application, color stay well with just a concealer base. White shimmers quite sheer but blend well to give a smokey effect. This is the easiest smokey eye I have ever done. 10/10 for price, blendability, pigmentation and colors! I did not buy the Naked 3 as I was not impressed with the colors....
