Dolce & Gabbana Fall Harvest eyeshadow quad

Suddenly I realized I never showed you this Dolce & Gabbana quad my hubby got me last Fall! It was limited edition, but as I'm trying to shop my stash more and buy less makeup, I thought it would be a good idea to use this stange-beautiful palette for a Makeup look!

Why do I say "strange beautiful", because of all the palettes I own, the associations on this one are the most unexpected! When I first saw the palette I though "I'm never going to be able to include all the colours in the same look". But After one year where I've been experimenting with eyeshadows a lot, I can totally pull these shades off TOGETHER.

The palette includes two matte shades and two satiny ones. The matte shades are a light vanilla colour and a dusty lavander. They are super soft and blend so easily that I have tendency to over blend! That being said, their colour payoff really needs the help of a base to show up. The satiny shades are an intense purple and a burgundy red. Both colours are very trendy this Fall, so I thought this is a quad I could be reaching for frequently this season. The last two shades are pigmented but not crazily so. Which allows you to either use a veil of colour for everyday wear, or building it over the top for a very edgy look.

I named my look "Exagerate" so you can already tell I opted for quite a charged up look!
The first thing you'll notice is that I made my eyebrows look much stronger than usual. I thought this would allow me to play with a palette of very intense colours on both eyes and lips without giving the impression that my makeup is totally unbalanced.

Another thing I did was avoiding contouring, bronzer and intense blush. I have enough colour on my face and lips! I applied a subtle veil of Guerlain Météorites compact powder to my entire face, because we all know that is a magic ingredient that makes anything look better, right?

On my eyes I applied all the colours of the D&G palette, but still had the impression a deeper colour was missing for giving some shadow to the outer corner of my eyes. Black seemed too harsh, so I decided to use MAC A45 Beauty Marked single eyeshadow which is a very deep shimmery plum on a black base.

On the lips I simply applied a fuchsia lipstick with a satiny finish, that seemed so right to me! I know most people would have advised to go for a nude lipstick with such an intense coloured eyelook, but I though, what the heck, I really like how this turns out!
