Hello Sweeties!! Happy Friday!
What are your plans for the weekend? I don't have any idea, but I have several household tasks that I've been procrastinating (insert grumpy emoji). I hate doing house chores. So let's talk of much more pleasant and fun subject like Nail art!! It's time for another nail art for the 40 Great Nail art Ideas Challenge, and the prompt this week is "Peach or lemon". Today's manicure is also a good one for short nails, I hope you like it!
Today's prompt for the challenge was "peach or lemon" and my personal technique was "skittles". For my dear nail art fans "skittles" sound so obvious, but I know many people is now wondering what the heck...?
You know, skittles is a brand of fruit flavoured candy of many colours. Here in Europe we have something similar called Smarties. I think they are sort of the same thing? I guess, please enlighten me, I am not a candy expert. Well, what in tarnation does this have to do with nails? Well, the point in skittle nail art is that you will be decorating each of your nail with a different colour, just as the sweets. I supposed it all started off by painting each nail of a different solid colour, but slowly people started adding different nail art techniques to each nail and then the term "skittlette" was born. But that's another story ;)
So now, you could just write the encyclopedia of popular nail art, haha.

For creating this manicure I started painting my nails with Essence White wild ways, which is a plain white. Then, using the dotting technique I placed some dots, This manicure doesn't require a lot of skills, other than a minimum steady hand, but it does required a lot of materials. I used 12 different colours grading from peach to lemon to achieve the different looks on each nail. Of course this could be simplified by using one colour per nail and you may call it a day. But I found much more interesting to associate different colours on the same nail.
I personally think dotticures are a great technique for any length of nails, and specially suitable for very short nails!
So, here you are my skittled dotticure in peach and lemon! How do you like it? I find them cheerful and colourful, great for the summer too.
Don't forget to pay a visit to my challenge pals listed here below, and have a wonderful weekend!!
Love,
Nati
