Do you often find yourself hesitating on your outfit? Do you have the impression you have nothing to wear although your wardrobe is actually full of clothes? Who hasn't been there!! If you'd like vary your outfits, try new looks daily, or simply rotate a large variety of clothes, this post is for you! If you can't makeup your mind in the morning, try different things without success and end up wearing always the same pair of jeans, this post is also for you!!
The quarantine period offers us a perfect occasion to get organised and come up with a definitive solution to our outfit problems and hesitations. You'll save so much time choosing your outfit and dressing up every morning! Do this trick now, thank me later!!

Your wardrobe is full, but you "Can't find anything to wear". Ok, we have a problem. I like having a lot of options and varying outfits, exploring with colourful clothes, being creative! But it can be quite a challenge to be creative every morning, coming up with a new idea daily! Who does that?

I had a good idea once, which was creating a "Fashion catalogue" with my own clothes. That is mixing and matching my tops and bottoms in creative ways, taking a picture every time I found a winning pair and have a collection of pictures on my smartphone or tablet so that I can easily choose from without doing a mess in my wardrobe and saving a lot of time in the morning!! Coming up with such a project would be very time consuming, so I kept putting it off. But the quarantine offers me a perfect moment to finally do it! I have time in my hands, I have nowhere to go and all my clothes are clean and ready to be catalogued!

DIY Outfit catalogue with your own clothes

This project will take you quite a long time. So set a day or two apart depending on how many pieces there are in our wardrobe to work on it.

First Step:
Take everything out of your wardrobe or closet. You need to see everything you own. You can also do this only for a season if you prefer it.
I have only done it with my spring/summer clothes, as my closet is a bit small I change it every season. If you do the same, that is a good moment to start!
Emptying your closet gives you also a good opportunity for deep cleaning and re-organising it!

Second Step:
Separate clearly and distinctly the tops from bottoms and the accessories.

You can also include shoes if you like it, but it will take considerably more time! While you sort your clothes out, you can take the opportunity to discard anything that is too old or worn out or that you don't like anymore.

Third Step:
Take one bottom, lay it down on a flat surface (on the bed or floor) and start combining it with all the tops you have or think it may fit.
Don't go only for the combinations you've already worn, try other tops that you haven't though to put together too. Certain combinations might actually surprise you!!

Fourth Step:
When you find a combination that you like and suits your style, take a picture!

Fifth Step:
When you are done with a bottom, move to the next and repeat the third and fourth step until you are done with all the bottoms.

Sixth Step:
Save all your photos in your smartphone or tablet under the same album, and name it something like "What to wear", "Fashion emergency" or "My outfits".
This way all you have to do every morning is just scroll through your photos to find the perfect outfit! If you are someone with very little time in the morning you can choose the evening before and leave everything ready for the next morning! And if you are completely obsessed with organization you can even plan your outfits for the whole week! That way, when you do your laundry, you can be sure that everything you'd like to wear that week will be clean!

EXTRA TIP: What If you found a top or a bottom that you could not match with anything??
You have two options! If it is something you are no longer to wear, you discard it (a.k.a. give it to a friend/sister, donate it, or use it to wipe your floors). If it is something you would like to keep but you have nothing to combine it with, take a photo of it and create a second photo album Called "Shopping goals". That way, the next time you go shopping for clothes, you can focus on finding pieces to combine with the ones that are spare!

Bottom line

I hope you liked my tips on how to come up with outfit ideas and organize your looks so that you save time getting dressed and never ever run out of fashion ideas! Let me know if you'd try to do so yourself.

Nati
